Organize chats and control replies

Last reviewed

Keep a conversation easy to find and choose what should happen when you send another message during a running answer.

Organize your sessions

Use chat folders, tags, and clear titles for related work. Auto-tagging can tag newly titled chats when enabled; it does not replace your manually assigned tags. Search old conversations by the terms you actually used.

Save a useful chat configuration with Save as starter in its header. Starters appear under Settings → Chat and give a new chat a familiar starting configuration.

Mid-turn messages

Settings → Chat offers three defaults:

  • Queue: the message becomes a later turn.
  • Steer: the running agent incorporates it where supported; otherwise it queues.
  • Replace: stop the current answer and start over with the new message.

Unattended work queues messages. External ACP agents may queue a message even when steering is requested. Look at the queue above the composer to see what will happen. Merge queued messages combines pending follow-ups into one labeled prompt when enabled.

Refine an answer

Regenerate an assistant answer to keep an alternative variant, then use the variant controls to compare. Use quote to focus a follow-up. Branch from here starts another conversation from existing context; Rewind to here changes an earlier message and its visible ending. Read conversation controls before rewinding.

Check and display

You can enable follow-up suggestions, timestamps, simplified tool names, and inline thinking in Chat settings. Check this work offers a fresh check after qualifying multi-step work; it spends verification effort only when you click. Smooth and immediate streaming change how received text is revealed, not whether a task has finished.

Archive

Auto-archive can move inactive conversations out of the active list. Archived conversations remain searchable. Use Archive settings to inspect them.
