Use Gideon on other devices

Last reviewed

Hosted Gideon follows your account across browsers. Self-hosted companion apps pair with a gateway you operate. Choose the path that matches your installation.

Hosted: another browser

Open Settings → Access on other devices and use the displayed address on your phone or computer. Sign in with your account. Conversations, memory, and files belong to your Gideon rather than the first browser you used.

The hosted runtime can continue background work after you close the browser, but you need an internet connection to interact with it. Reopen an existing run instead of starting a duplicate when returning to work.

Self-hosted: pair a device

Use Settings → Devices → Pair a device on the intended gateway. Follow the pairing link in the companion app and verify the host. A pairing link is access-bearing material; share it only with the device you intend to connect.

LAN discovery is opt-in under Companion apps. The advertised record does not contain a token or conversation, but it does reveal the gateway’s presence on your network.

Desktop capabilities

The desktop app adds native capabilities such as global push-to-talk, menu-bar access, gateway switching, and open-at-login. Permissions belong to the operating system and cannot be granted by a web page. Quick Capture Note currently opens Inbox; do not assume the note-writing half is implemented.

Browser control and push

Self-hosted companion settings can let an interactive task use your browser when enabled. Scheduled or unattended work cannot use that browser path. Push delivery requires an explicitly configured backend and a real device test.

See the desktop guide for native setup details.
