Availability and setup

Last reviewed

Gideon’s features depend on the environment, connected services, and permissions in use. Hosted and self-hosted setup differ.

Hosted Gideon

Models, speech, and runtime updates are managed. You use Apps and Connections for your own services. Search, Channels, MCP, OAuth, and Apps are customer connection categories; inference credentials are not.

Hosted file paths and the terminal refer to your remote workspace. Installable app source must be reachable from that workspace. A local path on your browsing device does not provide the source.

Self-hosted Gideon

You operate the gateway and configure model providers. You are responsible for installation, runtime access, updates, backups, and the machine permissions Gideon inherits. Follow the self-hosting guide.

Platform-dependent features

Microphone, screen capture, and companion features depend on browser and platform support. Third-party apps need their own account access. A control may be hidden when its prerequisite is unavailable.

Check before relying on it

Try a small task through the real connection. Inspect its result and any error. A setting being saved or an app being listed is not proof that a full task has succeeded.

When something is missing, use troubleshooting rather than assuming a guide guarantees activation.
