Archive and export your data

Last reviewed

Use Archive to inspect past conversations and Export data to keep a portable copy. Archiving, exporting, and restoring are different operations.

Read archived chats

Open Settings → Archive and select a session. The transcript view is read-only. Search or restore through the available chat controls when you need to continue the subject. Archiving does not delete the conversation.

Export hosted data

Open Settings → Export data and request the portable archive. Credentials are excluded. Rebuildable caches and model files are omitted; they are not the authoritative data you need to preserve. Large workspaces can take time to package.

Download the archive and check that it contains the expected material before relying on it. Keep the file private because conversations and documents can be sensitive even without credentials.

Import into a self-hosted instance

Self-hosted Import / Export also offers import. Read the options, select an archive you trust, and inspect the effect before confirming. Hosted export guidance is not a promise that a hosted customer may replace an entire runtime with an imported archive.

Full operational recovery

Self-hosted backups, snapshots, restore drills, and time travel are separate controls. See backups and recovery. Neither chat rewind nor a document version replaces a complete recovery plan.
